About Spencon For more than 30 years, Spencon has played a pivotal role in the development of infrastructure projects in the broader Eastern African Region. Spencon’s experience covers a wide spectrum, with more than 200 major projects undertaken in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi,Mozambique and Southern Sudan. Our pride in being the leading indigenous construction group in East Africa draws from the sheer scope and scale of our achievements and consistent growth, from humble beginnings in 1979. Today, the Spencon legacy is cast in steel and stone, on hundreds of projects dotting the region, from major water supply and sewerage projects to various types of buildings, roads and bridges.

| | International Partnering We partner with international development institutions when required and jointly undertake projects ranging from US$ 10 million to US$ 100 million each. Most of our earlier projects where funded by the World Bank, African Development Bank, Kreditanstait fur Wiederaufbau (KfW, Germany) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), amongst others. The company also has tie ups with other international companies to execute larger projects when required. |

The past to the present In the early eighties, the company focused on Water and Sanitation Sector. By the late eighties, the company branched into more specialised engineering disciplines such as electrical (high-voltage), hydraulic, M-E and instrumentation and roads/bridges giving it a broader operating base.
Today Spencon is the only multi- disciplined construction company having full fledged functional base in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia. Projects in Malawi and Mozambique are managed from Zambia, whereas Southern Sudan and DRC Corgo are managed from Kenya.
Over the period the company has grown steadily at an average compounded growth rate of over 20% per annum.
In 2005 the shareholders decided to increase the capital base of the company and ‘Corporatise” the management. Subsequently in 2006 EMP Washington USA based decided to take 42% equity in the company.
